Everybody produces waste. Some can be recycled, reused or repurposed. Too much of it, however, ends up going to the landfill. How we manage our waste is everyone’s responsibility. “Just throw it away!” is no longer an option. We must make thoughtful decisions about every piece of waste. In doing so, we reduce the amount of waste going to landfills and we preserve our valuable natural resources. And who better to lead this effort, than Escondido's city staff?
The City of Escondido and Escondido Disposal, Inc. (EDI) are making an effort to reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill to less than 25%. We are making this available to city staff in order that we as a group can set an example for the rest of the community.
Escondido For Zero Waste helps you advance your understanding of recycling and reducing the amount of waste each of us produce. By completing all six steps you will have a system set up to help you make better decisions about what to do with your waste.
